Data accuracy

With ITAM, accurate data means knowing what equipment you have, where it is, how it's working, how much it's costing you, who's using it, what you can reuse, and whether it's doing for the business what you intended it to do. This knowledge plays an important role in how key people (stakeholders, peers, end users, and so on) perceive the success of you ITAM program.

Regular audits of both the CAR and the work locations are considered a best practice. While physical or spot audits help identify unused or discarded equipment, an automated inventory discovery tool helps locate equipment that has been moved or swapped, and has not been recorded in the asset repository.
