6.6 Arrangement of Flue Gas Desulphurization Facilities
6.6.1 The main process equipment for flue gas desulphurization(FGD)shall be arranged in accordance with the following requirements:
1 The absorbers used in wet FGD and activated coke dry FGD processes should be arranged closed to the chimney, and those used in semi-dry FGD process should be arranged after the pre-deduster.In severely cold regions, the FGD absorbers shall be provided with anti-freezing measures.
2 In limestone-gypsum wet FGD system, the limestone slurry circulating pumps and oxidation draft fans should be arranged immediately adjacent to the absorber.
3 In severely cold or windy and sandy regions, booster fans, circulating pumps and oxidation draft fans shall be arranged indoors. In other regions, the feasibility of arranging such devices outdoors may be investigated based on the local meteorological conditions and the device conditions. In case of outdoor installation, acoustic baffles shall be installed or a space shall be reserved to install the same.
4 The emergency slurry tanks used for the limestone-gypsum wet FGD devices should be located such that multiple desulphurization units can share them conveniently.
5 The seawater booster pumps used in seawater scrubbing FGD process should be located close to absorber.
The aeration basin should be close to the circulation water discharge side, and the water discharge system of aeration basin and that of circulation water system should be designed from an overall view.
6.6.2 The absorbent preparation system and desulphurization by-products handling system should be arranged in accordance with the following requirements:
1 The equipment of absorbent preparation system and the desulphurization by-products handling system should be centrally arranged at different floors in the same building or may be otherwise arranged appropriately taking into consideration the process flow and site conditions.
2 For semi-dry FGD process, the absorbent preparation system, unslaked lime powder bunker, and slaked lime bunker should be located centrally close to the absorber.
