Foreword

This code is developed by Capital Engineering & Research Incorporation Limited（CERI）in conjunction with other relevant organizations according to the requirements of Document Jian Biao［2006］No.136 issued by Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development，P.R.China—"Notice on Printing the Development and Revision Plan（the Second Batch）of National Engineering Construction Standards in 2006.

During the development of this code，the development group followed the relevant national basic construction guideline and industrial policies，conducted relevant investigation and data collection in the selected iron & steel works，summed up the experiences of design units and manufacturers of the iron &steel industry in recent years，and widely solicited the opinions of experts，scholars and designers of relevant design units，scientific research units，companies and other organizations all over the country，meanwhile，studied and digested the latest foreign design achievements，and finalized the draft through serious study，careful analysis and several amendments.

This code comprises 8 chapters with the main contents as follows:general provisions，terms，general principles for design of continuous casting engineering，process design of continuous casting workshop，choice of technology parameter and type of continuous casting machine，equipment of continuous casting machine，electric，instrumentation and automation，and water treatment facilities etc.

The provisions printed in bold type in this standard are compulsory ones and must be enforced strictly.

MOHURD is in charge of the administration of this standard（code）and the explanation of the compulsory provisions，while China Metallurgical Construction Association takes responsibility for routine management，and Capital Engineering & Research Incorporation Limited is responsible for explaining the technical details.All relevant organizations are kindly requested to sum up experiences by taking into account their own engineering practices during the process of implementing this code.If any amendment and addition is found necessary，the comments and suggestions can be posted or passed on to the Code Administration Office of Capital Engineering & Research Incorporation Limited（address:No.7 Jiananjie，Beijing Economic & Technical Development Area；Post code:100176）for references in future revision.
