Morning Dressing (to the tune of Pu Sa Man)
by Wen Tingyun (?-866)
Ruffled hairdo like little hills overlapping,
Covers up here and there,
Glittering adornments on her head.
Trailing locks on her sides,
Thin and fluffy like flying clouds,
Threaten to sweep across the tender chinks.
Reluctant to leave her cozy bed,
She is late in washing and dressing.
Reflected through the back mirror,
Colorful flowers seen in the front one,
Afford a beautiful background,
Adding much to her own pretty image.
Then she puts on her newly-made blouses,
With a pair of partridges embroidered in gold.
