Chapter 1 Pressing Forming

1.1 Basic Concepts

Press forming is a kind of technique which mainly relies on external pressure to achieve press forming of material modeling.According to the articles about pressing，press forming can be divided into compression molding and laminate molding.According to whether the state of material change or not in the process of forming，press forming can be divided into ordinary press forming and powder press forming.Powder press forming refers to a kind of press forming which uses powder material to form and makes powder material always maintain solid during the forming process，besides，its forming material is usually only ware，and it is in need of a follow-up sintering process to obtain the final products of press forming.Powder press forming will not be introduced in this chapter，but in the part of“powder press molding and sinter molding” we will mention it.Ordinary press forming refers to the material of forming process（the common compression molding）or part of the material（such as laminate molding bonding material）which will cause，or partly cause the process of state changing of solid—liquid—solid state.Compacting process typically involves physical problems and chemical reactions about press forming.

This chapter will be focused on introducing the mold，principle，technique and development of the common compression molding，and will give a brief introduction to laminate molding，on the basis of introducing forming equipments.
