Chapter III　Theoretical Foundation

Relevance theory was formally brought forth by Dan Sperber and Deirdre Wilson in their book Relevance:Communication and Cognition in 1986.It is based on the definition of relevance and two relevance principles including cognitive principle and communicative principle.This chapter will present some basic concepts of relevance theory.
