The Vaccine Appeared?
On the same day I was reading this research article, the National Health Commission of China held a press conference, and the relevant person in charge made a speech. After the meeting, some news organizations issued news that China had found a drug to control the virus. My father also sent me a congratulatory voice message, and social media is very interested in it.
Naeem commented on the homepage of the Wuhan Lebanese Social Media Group, “I heard that the Chinese health departments have found a way to treat the new coronavirus and are ready to start promoting special medicines in the next few hours... I don't know if this news is true.” I asked suspiciously, “Is this news only in Lebanon?” Another Lebanese said, “If the news of the special medicine is true, then there is no doubt that the government will distribute it for free. This may be a vaccine.” I said, “I hope so.” Naeem added, “I think it is similar to the HIV vaccine, but slightly different.”
I am almost certain that this news is incorrect, because before the news appeared, I had just read a study that said it was impossible to produce a vaccine so quickly. The core question raised by the study is, can drugs be developed to treat new coronavirus? The answer is that it is possible, but it takes time. Chinese medical experts are working hard for this. I found the information released by Naeem. It said that according to the statement issued by the National Health Commission of China on January 27, an anti-AIDS drug has been effective in the clinical treatment of new coronary pneumonia, which is recommended in Pneumonia Diagnosis and Treatment Plan (Trial Version 3) issued by the National Health Commission of China. It is said that China has approved the use of lopinavir/ritonavir for HIV treatment in several hospitals for clinical trials to treat patients with pneumonia infected by the new coronavirus.
