2 General

2.0.1 The design of system connection of HVDC converter station shall be in step with project feasibility study,generally after HVDC transmission scheme,transmission capacity and voltage are determined.The design,after being approved,will be used as the basis for preliminary design and development of functional specifications of converter stations.

2.0.2 The major design content for system connection of HVDC converter stations include connection to primary/secondary system.In design of connection to primary system,the role of converter station in the power system shall be defined,the connection scheme justification and power system calculation shall be carried out,and requirements of the system for the design and main technical parameters of converter stations shall be proposed.In design of connection to secondary system,the schemes of relay protection,safety and stability control equipment,phasor measurement unit(PMU),system dispatch automation,and communication system shall be proposed.

2.0.3 The basis and foundation for design of system connection of HVDC converter station are the planning and design of power grid,planning and design of power transmission from large power plants,justification report and review comments on the system schemes of this project.

2.0.4 The design of system connection of HVDC converter station shall be cost-effective on the condition of meeting the basic requirements for safety and stability,adaptive to short-term and longterm scenarios,and justified scientifically.The recommended scheme should be in harmony with the planning of power grid,and featured with technical advancement,economical reasonableness,simple wiring,operation flexibility,and high adaptation.The design and equipment parameter setting of converter station shall meet the system operation requirements,thereby making the HVDC transmission project to be an integrating part of the master plan of power grid.

2.0.5 In design of system connection of HVDC converter station,the rectifier station and inverter station shall coordinate with each other.
