2.Life on Campus
(1)Exam
John:Hi,Mike!How are you?
Mike:I'm fine. How are you?
John:I'm tired. I've been studying for hours.
Mike:Do you have an exam tomorrow?
John:Yes,I do. Have you had any exams yet?
Mike:No,not yet. I have three next week.
John:Wow!Good luck with your exams.
Mike:Good luck to you,too,John.
A:Well,do you think you passed the exam?
B:No,definitely not. I thought the paper was terrible. I haven't got a hope of getting through.
A:Are you sure?
B:Absolutely. Not a chance!
A:Oh,you're always saying that, but you manage to pass all the tests we have, don't you?
B:Yeah, but this time it's different for the simple reason that I didn't even finish the paper. I left out the last question completely.
A:Well,we'll see,huh?Don't give up hope just yet,OK?
(2)Registration
Desk attendant:May I help you?
Student:I need to file this application for graduation.
Desk attendant:(Looks at the form)Are you planning to graduate in December?
Student:No,I am going to graduate in May.
Desk attendant:Okay,I will file this with the registrar. If you want a different name on your diploma than what's on your records, you will have to fill out a green Name Change form.
Student:When is the deadline for turning in the green form?
Desk attendant:Be sure to file it 30 days prior to graduation.
Student:Okay, thank you very much for your help.
Desk attendant:You're welcome. Have a nice day.
(3)Graduation Plans
Graduate 1:So,what are you going to do after graduation,Susan?
Graduate 2:Well,I've saved some money, and I think I'd really like to travel.
Graduate 1:Lucky you. That sounds exciting!
Graduate 2:Yeah. Then I plan to get a job and my own apartment.
Graduate 1:Oh,you're not going to live at home?
Graduate 2:No,I don't want to live with my parents—not after I start to work.
Graduate 1:I know what you mean.
Graduate 2:What about you,Alex?Do you have any plans yet?
Graduate 1:I'm going to get a job and live at home. I'm broke, and I want to pay off my student loan!
