Postscript

During the writing of this book, I organize the papers that I wrote in the past two high school years. They reflect my exploration of metaphysics and ethics, some of which are explanatory, while others express my understanding of certain foundational questions in metaethics.

The nine papers begins with moral disagreements and moral realtsm, and it ends with the analysis of Alexandria and Aristtotle. To consider this adventure retrospectively, writing not only enables me to evolve from explanation to original arguments, but also promotes my understanding of various contexts written by the philosophical giants.

Philosophy, as a subject that loves wisdom, begins in wonder.Philosophy challenges our unreflective conventions and proposes diverse explanatory paradigms, while the development and the transformation of these paradigms bring the evolution of philosophical ideas. From Plato to contemporary Davidson, from ancient Greeks to Indian philosophers, these multiple perspectives form different philosophies.

The boundaries between paradigms are not absolute. People constantly challenge the boundaries of accepted knowledge through discourse and debate. When the old paradigms fail, people replace them with the adjusted model or even radically innovative theory: we promote the progress of knowledge during this endless endeavor. In short, communication deconstructs the absolute boundaries between paradigms and urges us to continue the questioning.

This discourse should also be open and diverse: we should encourage the development of multiple perspectives and explanatory theories to comprehensively understand the world. We can provide explanations for the phenomenon in our world and question the structure of the world(metaphysics and epistemology). We can also evaluate our society and relation to others, making our world a better place to live (ethics).

Due to this nature, the reflective endeavor should not be limited to academia but should instead become a collective responsibility for everyone who has curiosity. On the one hand, we should dare to ask bold questions, challenging the limit of knowledge. On the other hand, we should have an open attitude towards others, willing to embrace others'opinions and critiques. Through this organic process of interaction, we are rational to believe that philosophy will become more holistic, have stronger explanatory power, and expand the consensus between people. Therefore, this book is written from the perspective of a high school student, and I hope to provide some different perspectives to think about the world. As a beginning in philosophy, I admit that there maybe immature ideas, so I sincerely welcome critiques and corrections from my readers.

I thank the teachers and classmates who generously help me during the publication: without their opinions and comments, this book would not be possible. I also want to thank the great thinkers in the history of philosophy.Their tireless inquiries and insightful arguments lay the foundation for today's philosophical investigation as well as motivating for me to study philosophy. I shall especially express immense gratitude to my parents for their inclusive, open attitude and for supporting me to continue this philosophical journey of exploration.
