Chi Fulin is a researcher, doctoral supervisor, and member of the 11th and 12th national committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. His leadership roles of several Chinese think tanks include president of the China Institute for Reform and Development, vice president of the China Society of Economic Reform, and vice president of the China Society of Administrative Reform. He is also a public policy consultant to the provincial governments of Guangdong and Hainan. In 2002, he was awarded the title of "National Outstanding Professional" by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and the Ministry of Science and Technology. In 2009, he was selected as one of the "100 Chinese Economists of the Greatest Influence Over the Past 60 Years". In 2015, he was included as a prominent economist in the book An Overview of Academic Achievements of the Best Chinese Scientists in the 20th Century.
