Yanhuang Highway:China's Highway One

Yanhuang Highway (also Shaanxi Yanhuang Sightseeing Highway), a north-south provincial highway built along the west bank of the Yellow River in Shaanxi Province, stretches over 800 kilometers from Qiangtou Township in Fugu County, Yulin City in the north to Lotus Seat Statue at the foot of Huashan Mountain in Weinan City in the south, passing 12 districts and counties in 4 cities including Yulin, Yan'an, Hancheng and Weinan.

As the highway officially opened to traffic at the end of August 2017, a multifunctional economic belt is being formed encompassing ecology, sightseeing, tourism, culture and urban development.

Like a pearl necklace, Yanhuang Highway strings more than 50 famous scenic spots and historical sites, including Fugu Ancient City, Xianglu Temple, Baiyun Mountain, Wubu Ancient Town, Wenanyi Ancient Town, Qiankun Bay, Yan'an City, the Hukou Waterfall, Longmen of the Yellow River, Dang's Village, Sima Qian Temple, Hechuan Wetland, Fengtu Granary, Tongguan Ancient City, and Huashan Mountain. Because of the gorgeous view along the road, Yanhuang Highway has soon become China's "Highway One" to self-driving enthusiasts.

Yanhuang Highway links 9 expressways, 13 national and provincial main highways and 80 county and township roads, optimizing the road network structure in northern Shaanxi and eastern Guanzhong area and adding a new traffic artery to the road network of Shaanxi Province. At the same time, it is expected to promote the development of energy and chemical bases in northern Shaanxi, special agricultural bases along the Yellow River, tourism development, ecological environmental protection, and regional economic cooperation along the Yellow River, poverty alleviation in areas of dire poor, flood control, emergency and rescue services.
