About the Authors
You Zhao-ling is a professor of Chinese medicine and tutor of PhD students at Hunan University of Chinese Medicine; she is a former Dean and Director of Scientific Research at Hunan University of Chinese Medicine. She received her Bachelor’s degree in modern medicine from Hunan University of Medical Sciences in 1976 and her Master’s degree in Chinese medicine diagnostics in 1983. She has been working for over 30 years as a doctor, professor and scientific researcher in the field of Integrative Chinese and Western Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has been invited many times to Japan, Indonesia, and the United States for lectures and academic exchange.
Dr. You’s main research direction involves the treatment of stubborn gynecological conditions with integrative Chinese medicine, and she is presently researching the diagnostic and therapeutic laws of gynecological blood conditions and the Chinese medicinal effects on placental function.

Jane qualified first as a research scientist and then as doctor of Chinese medicine. After more than thirty years of TCM clinical experience and having had the privilege of working in gynecology hospital departments with some of China’s best known specialists, she sits comfortably with the logic of both Chinese medicine and western science and feels both can contribute greatly to positive therapeutic outcomes for the patient.
Jane is a Director of a multi modality medical centre in Sydney where she practices TCM focusing on gynecology and infertility.
She is also the Director of the Acupuncture IVF Support clinics in Sydney and Melbourne. These clinics provide a holistic service for IVF and infertility patients. They also provide a framework for collecting data and carrying out research in conjunction with University of Western Sydney (UWS) and local IVF clinics.
She is a member of the Board for the National Institute of Complementary Medicine at UWS.
Jane is the Author of the text on the treatment of reproductive disorders with TCM: “Treatment of Infertility with Chinese Medicine”. Published by Elsevier in 2004 and 2014 in 3 languages and now in its 8 th reprint, it is based on the work of Dr Xia Gui Cheng (Nanjing), and its translation over 3 decades in a western TCM clinic. And co-author of The Clinical Handbook of Internal Medicine Volumes 1, 2 and 3 published by UWS and Pangolin Press.
She lectures at universities in Sydney and internationally.
Xiao Ping is a Professor at Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Since 2000, she has been working as a bilingual teacher. She has written more than 10 articles on translation and has compiled and translated many books including English for TCM Purposes, Selected Readings in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Gynecology of Traditional Chinese Medicine, A Chinese-English Clinical Manual of Chinese Medicine: Diagnosis and Treatment of Internal Diseases, and An Intellectual History of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
