Gathering data

Once we've defined the problem and determined that we think that the available data contains values that are of interest, we can continue by building a project data pool (or a single, secure location for all the data we intend to use) to be input to our Watson project. This simply means that we consolidate or stitch together the organization's trip records into a single source, which can be a database table, OLAP cube, or a simple CSV text file.

The method used to create our data pool could be the topic of a chapter itself but again, for our first project, we'll keep it very simple and assume that we have a text file of all of our trip data and we are ready to proceed.
