Declarative Automation
It's been two chapters only and we have already learned a lot about Salesforce, and this knowledge is actually building a foundation that you need to understand before we dive into detail. The concepts you'll learn from now on (especially the content of Chapter 3, Declarative Automation, Chapter 4, Apex Basics, and Chapter 5, Apex - Beyond the Basics) are largely what the platform developer I exam is all about. Half of the questions you'll see in the exam will be covered in the next three chapters, so pay extra attention.
I have tried to explain all the concepts as clearly as possible, keeping in mind that you would not have any prior knowledge, nor any experience of them. And I have also tried to provide a concrete example, putting the theory into practice, by leveraging our BIM DB app.
In this chapter, we will be covering the following topics:
- Using formula fields and roll-up summary fields
- Automating your business with workflow rules and processes
- Creating approval processes
- More complex automation with flow
- When to use declarative tools versus Apex code
So, let's dive in!
