Chapter 3. Polygon Modeling of the Weapon
Now that we have passed through all the initial phases of the project, working with the concept and idea of the first project, we can finally begin working on it. This chapter will guide you through the first steps of the modeling by using concept drawings to create a base model in Blender. The base model will be very important to add details and upgrade the first flat surfaces into something more complex.
With the base model created, we will be able to analyze the shape of our model and evaluate the next steps of the project. We can even decide to make changes to the project because new ideas may appear when we see the object in 3D rather than in 2D.
In this phase, some professionals and studios may use sculptors or designers to work on real clay models, sculpted to give the creation team a good idea of the object. It would be great to have this kind of resource, but I believe that the use of clay to get to this level of evaluation is out of scope of this book. So, we will stick to Blender as our only design tool.
