4.4 Process Technique
4.4.1 Under particular conditions,cut-to-length and surface cleaning procedures for continuous casting slabs can be arranged in a medium slab rolling plant.
4.4.2 A continuous casting hot-charging rolling process shall be used for charging and heating of continuous casting slabs.The hot-charging temperature shall not be lower than 400℃,and the hot-charging percentage should not be lower than 30%.The medium slab rolling plant should be directly connected with the continuous casting shop in a compact arrangement,and thermal insulation and buffering measures should be taken for slab transport and storage.The weight,length,and temperature of the slabs shall be measured one by one before the slabs are charged.
4.4.3 The slab shall be heated to a homogeneous temperature state(inside and outside of the cross section and in the entire length)and the temperature accuracy shall be high,to meet the temperature requirement of control rolling.
4.4.4 The heated slab shall be treated with high pressure water to remove the scale on the surface before it is rolled,and regenerated scale can be removed with high pressure water in the stages of rolling as required.
4.4.5 Medium slabs should be rolled in a three-stage rolling mode:sizing rolling,broadside rolling,and elongation rolling.
4.4.6 Gauge control and width control techniques shall be used for medium slab rolling.Profile control and plan view rolling techniques should be used.
4.4.7 Control rolling,thermo mechanical control rolling,and post-rolling accelerated control cooling techniques shall be used for medium slab rolling.
4.4.8 The finishing operations for medium slab rolling shall include straightening,natural cooling and slow cooling,surface inspection,regrinding,internal flaw detection,profile checking,cutting,sampling,mark printing,and finished product collection,etc.,and the procedures shall be integral and the production capacity shall match the that of the rolling mill.
4.4.9 A cold straightening procedure can be arranged,depending on the plant conditions.
4.4.10 The product should be in hot rolling state or treated by thermo mechanical control rolling,controlled rolling,and accelerated control cooling,to obtain required delivery properties.
4.4.11 The heat treatment process shall be determined in the design according to the product requirements.
4.4.12 For a double-stand rolling mill,the finishing mill should be constructed first,if the double-stand rolling mill is to be constructed by stages.
