4.3 Auxiliary Materials
4.3.1 When bentonite is used as binder, balling tests on varieties of bentonite shall be carried out for comparison and selection of bentonite. The bentonite addition shall be minimized on the premise of ensuring sufficient drop numbers of the green balls achieved. The maximum addition of bentonite should be 1.2% of mixture by weight on dry basis.
4.3.2 Performances and origins shall be the primary considerations while selection of binders or compound additives.
4.3.3 Transportation and storage of binders shall be in accordance with the following requirements:
1 Seal tanks have priority for short distance transportation of binder. In this case pneumatic conveying from seal tanks into storage bins should be applicable. The storage bin for 2-3 days operation should be considered.
2 For long distance transportation, binders should be delivered to pellet plants in seal bags. One enclosed storehouse with capacity for 15 days operation, built in pellet plant, should be provided.
3 Where producing fluxed pellets or pellets should containing magnesium oxide requiring limestone and/or dolomite added in the mixture, they shall be ground to the fineness of 90% passing 0.045mm prior to mixing.
4 In-plant grinding of flux should not be considered.Well ground flux should be transported by seal tanks to pellet plant, and then pneumatically conveyed into storage bins with necessary capacity.
