While we were relieved (松口气) that all the AP exams and finals were out of the way,the busy 10th grade school year came to an end.

My brother and I had always wanted to                  (36) some kind of medical research.                 (37) more free time during the summer,we decided to take up a research program at the University of Wisconsin. We sent lots of e-mails to professors who might                  (38) us as assistants.I especially took good notice of professors in the genetics department,                 (39) genetics has always been my favorite                  (40) in medicine.A week later,I got a                  (41) from Dr.Ager in the microbiology and immunology department.                 (42) the field was not as interesting as genetics,it represented an adventure for both of us.

We took the first few days to get used to the working                  (43).Dr.Ager showed us a roomful of mice infected with malaria (疟疾).Both of us                  (44) away, fearing to be infected. The noises made by the mice                  (45) even more to the already unpleasant atmosphere, putting aside their smell.                 (46) we had to get rid of our great fear of mice and                  (47) with them.

Dr.Ager asked us to inject (注射) some drug into the mice's bodies to knock them out.We weren't so                  (48) using medical equipment like needles. Thus the mice kept escaping from our                  (49) and running on to our bodies, making us                  (50) our needles. The mice were injected with anti-malarial drugs and then bitten by mosquitoes. The last                  (51) was to dissect (解剖) the mosquitoes to see the gradual change of the malaria and dissect the mice to see the                  (52) of the drugs.

Although the entire                  (53) of research was hard and tiring,we                  (54) good knowledge that paved ground for our                  (55) research in medical fields.
