[记] 词根记忆:ad(表加强)+vis(看)+e→让人看到危险→劝告
[用] 1. advise后接宾语从句时,从句谓语用虚拟语气,即:should+do, 其中should可以省略: I advised that you(should) get a haircut before your interview. 我建议过你面试前先理个发。具有相同用法的动词还有:insist, demand, desire, request, require, order, command, prefer, propose, ask, suggest等。2. advise 后接动名词作宾语,即:advise doing sth. 建议做某事: I advise starting early. 我建议早点出发。3. advise后接动词不定式作宾语补足语,即:advise sb.(not) to do sth. 建议某人(不) 做某事: The teacher advised his students to choose proper majors. 那位老师建议学生们选择适合的专业。

这两个词词形相似,词义不同。beside是介词,意为“在…旁边”,而besides既可以作介词,意为“除了…外(还)”,也可以作副词,意为“此外,况且”。

[用] 1. hardly是否定副词,不与其他表示否定的词语,像no, nothing等连用,如: He hardly did anything. 他几乎什么也没有做。2. hardly...when... 表示“刚…就…”,当hardly放在句首时句子需要倒装,如: The game had hardly begun when it started raining. = Hardly had the game begun when it started raining. 比赛刚开始就下起了雨。
[例] I can hardly hear the radio. Would you please turn it up? 我几乎听不见广播,请把声音开大一些好吗?

hate/ heIt / vt. 恨,讨厌,不喜欢 n. 怨恨
[记] 联想记忆: 讨厌(hate) 晚上睡觉时不关大门(gate)
[用] hate后面既可以跟不定式,也可以跟现在分词,hate to do经常指讨厌一个具体的或一次性的动作,而hate doing则是讨厌某种习惯性的动作。
